OUR PHYSICIAN- Dr. Lisa L. Sachdev is an osteopathic physician who is board certified in Family Medicine. She is a past member of the Anti-Aging Academy of Medicine (A4M), Pan American Allergy Society (PAAS), Attention Deficit Disorders Association (ADDA-SR), Harris County Medical Society (HCMS) and the Texas Medical Association (TMA). In 2016 she became a certified Bio-Te physician, providing evaluation and treatment of hormone imbalances using bio-identical therapies. She received certification as an an Irlen Syndrome screener in 2011, which assists in the diagnosis and treatment of visual processing disorder. She has a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with ADHD. She has a contract with the Pasadena School District to provide ADD evaluation of students referred by their school psychologists.
She has been practicing family medicine since 1996. She was employed by Deer Park Family Clinic between 1999-2003. She began her private practice Horizon Family Healthcare in Deer Park in 2003. In 2007 she moved her practice from Deer Park to a larger facility in Pasadena, where she was joined by another family physician and a physician's assistant. In 2015 she was selected to receive six months training and clinical experience working with a CDC pilot program to identify and treat prediabetic patients. She was in charge of the The PreDiabetes Center in Webster. The PreDiabetes Centers now exist only in Fort Worth and Austin, the clinics currently operate under the name Texas Metabolic Centers. During the summer of 2015 she streamlined her practice to focus on patients who needed more time and attention than a traditional primary care clinic could provide. She canceled all of her contracts with government and commercial health insurance companies and set up a simple business model that focused entirely on patient care rather than data mining and administrative paperwork for third party payers. She downsized her office and relocated it from Pasadena to Nassau Bay in December of 2015, under the new name Sachdev Wellness Clinic.
Dr. Sachdev focuses on preventative medicine, emphasizing nutrition and wellness. She believes that prescription medication should not be the only treatment modality utilized by physicians. She does not believe in a "one size fits all" approach to healthcare. She keeps her patient volume low to allow adequate time to assess each individual. She has won several patient awards including America's Top Doctor, Compassionate Doctor Award, and Patient's Choice Award.
Dr. Sachdev and her husband are both primary care physicians practicing in the Bay Area. Her husband is on the national Board of Directors for MD-VIP and Altus Healthcare in Baytown. He has a special interest in cardiovascular prevention and is a well respected speaker for The Cleveland Heart Lab and The Bale Doneen Method of Cardiovascular Prevention. He is in charge of the Help Your Diabetes initiative for the Houston metroplex area. Dr. Sachdev and her husband benefit from their relationships with physicians who are pioneers in preventative medicine and wellness.
Dr. Sachdev has four children between the ages of 10 and 20 years old. She and all four of her children have ADHD so she understands the challenges that ADD poses for students, parents, and professionals. She treats both adults and children affected with ADD. She offers a comprehensive approach to management that includes medication, nutritional therapy, academic counseling, exercise and treatment of co-morbid health issues. She does not believe that ADHD is a disorder, rather it is a different way of interpreting and processing information that it possessed by a minority of the population. She appreciates the unique gifts and talents that the ADHD population possesses and encourages her patients to take advantage of their special skills.
Dr. Sachdev has a teenager who is autistic, epileptic and has multiple food intolerances. In 2005 she traveled to Washington DC to receive training from Defeat Autism Now, she became certified as a DAN practitioner. She has received training in alternative therapies such as auditory integration, hyperbaric oxygen, and chelation.
Dr. Sachdev home-schooled her autistic son during his adolescence. After four years he returned to public school when he entered the 9th grade. Her son is enrolled in special education; Dr. Sachdev understands the challenges that a parent of a special needs child faces.
Dr. Sachdev's believes in providing patients with the individual care and attention that she herself would want. She believes that the traditional healthcare model is broken, lumping patients into groups instead of appreciating their individuality. She takes time to get to know her patients; she partners with them to attain physical and mental wellness.
